Solution

1)
More reactive metals such as aluminium, magnesium etc. have a tendency to react or combine with other elements to form compounds and thus they occur in combined form but less reactive metals such as gold, platinum etc. donot have a tendency to combine with other elements and thus they exist as free metal.

2)
COPPER- it is used for making electrical wires and cables, coils, pipe fittings, parts of electrical equipment, to make cooking utensils, in integrated circuits, and electromagnets.

ALUMINIUM- it is used for making cooking utensils, packaging tins, cans, packing foils, parts of machinery , automobiles and building materials

PHOSPHORUS-it is used for making matchsticks and fireworks. Compounds of phosphorus called phosphates are an important agricultural fertilizer.

HYDROGEN- it is primarily used for the synthesis of ammonia and methyl alcohol. it is used in welding torches and in the extraction of metals. Hydrogen is also used as a non polluting fuel
