Solution

Part 1: Fabrics

The bulk of fabrics used is made up of yarns that are woven or knitted together to form a cloth. Fabric kinds, weights, finishes, and weaving structures come in a wide variety to meet specific market needs. In most cases, fabrics are made up of the following structures:

Fibers: Fine hair-like strands that make up the tiniest fraction of the fabric. It might be organic or synthetic.

Yarns: Yarns are twisted "strings" made up of numerous fibers that are then woven or knitted into fabric.

Part 2: Different kinds of fabrics:

  • Natural fibers: The fibers of some fabrics such as cotton, jute, silk, and wool are obtained from plants and animals. These are called natural fibers. Cotton and jute fibers are obtained from plants. Wool and silk fibers are obtained from animals. Wool is obtained from the fleece of sheep or goats. It is also obtained from the hair of rabbits, yak, and camels. The silk fiber is drawn from the cocoon of the silkworm.
  • Synthetic fibers: Fibres are also made from chemical substances, which are not obtained from plant or animal sources. These are called synthetic fibers. Some examples of Synthetic fibers are polyester, nylon, and acrylic.
