Question

1.what is a purpose of using the transformer? Can it be used with both current sources?

2. How can you determine the direction of magnetic field line by a straight wire?

Solution

Transformer has its own important In the present arena as per the requirement and application the transformer has used as

The most important uses and application of Transformer are:

  • It can rise or lower the level of level of Voltage or Current (when voltage increases, current decreases and vice virsa because P =V x I, and Power is same ) in an AC Circuit. That is the current that comes tthorugh line high voltage but our house hold( all houses in an area ) require comparitively low voltage . So tranformer cut the voltage to low value
  • Also in factories ,it increase voltage as factories requires high voltage . That why you see tranformer near by factories
  • It can be used to prevent DC from passing from one circuit to others
As stated above ,it wont allow ,dc current because its working require ac current to pass throught it(mutual induction possible only thorugh ac curents)

2)The direction can be found by
Right Hand Thumb Rule : Imagine holding the current carrying straight conductor in your right hand such that the thumb points towards the direction of current. Then the fingers of right hand wrap around the conductor in the direction of field lines of the magnetic field.
