$10$ % of the goats in a farm died in a flood. $40$ % of the remaining died due to a disease. If $594$ goats were alive, find the original number of goats in the farm.

Solution

Let the total no : of goats be x
$\Rightarrow$ No: of goats died = $10 + 40 = 50 %$
$\Rightarrow$ Goats alive = $50 %$
$∴ 50 %$ of $x = 594$
$\Rightarrow \frac{50}{100} \times x = 594$
$\Rightarrow x = \frac{594 \times 100}{50}$
$\Rightarrow 1188$
$∴$ The total no: of goats is 1188 Ans
