a) What difference can be observed in their volumes during freezing?
b) What do you infer from the observation?
c) When water is frozen in glass bottles, it is advised not to fill the bottles completely. Explain the reason.

a) The volume in beaker containing water will be greater.
b) This is due to anomalous expansion of water. Water expands on freezing whereas other liquids generally contract on freezing.
c) As water expands on freezing, a completely filled bottle may break when water freezes.
