he should receive $\frac{9}{12}$ of his total payment.

Let the price of 1 shirt be Rs. S

$\Rightarrow \frac{3}{4}(400+S)$

By the qurtion the servant receives Rs 280 + S where S is the price of the shirt.

$\Rightarrow \frac{3}{4}(400+S)=280+S$

$\Rightarrow 1200+3S=1120+4S$

$\Rightarrow 4S-3S=1200-1120=Rs80$

$\Rightarrow S=Rs80$

$\therefore$ Price of the shirt = Rs 80
