15 pastries and 12 biscuit packets have been donated for a school fete. These are to be packed in several smaller identical boxes with the same number of pastries and biscuit packets in each. How many biscuit packets and how many pastries will each box contain?

No. of Pastries = 15
No. of Biscuits = 12
No. of Identical boxes of pastries and biscuits = HCF of 15 and 12
15 = 3 x 5
and 12 = 3 x 4
⇒ HCF of 15 and 12 = 3
Therefore, No. of Pastries in a box = 15 / 3 = 5
No. of Biscuits in a box = 12 / 3 = 4
No. of Pastries = 15
No. of Biscuits = 12
No. of Identical boxes of pastries and biscuits = HCF of 15 and 12
15 = 3 x 5
and 12 = 3 x 4
⇒ HCF of 15 and 12 = 3
Therefore, No. of Pastries in a box = 15 / 3 = 5
No. of Biscuits in a box = 12 / 3 = 4
