Question

16 bulbs of 40w are used for 6 hours a day along with 1 bulb of 100w for 2 hours. Calculate units of energy consumed in 20 days

Open in App
Solution

Energy consumed by electric bulb = Number of the bulbs x power of the bulb ⨯ Time

Energy consumed by electric bulb of 40 w = 16 x 40 w ⨯ 20 ⨯ 6 hrs

Energy consumed by electric bulb of 40 w = 16 x 4800 watt-Hour

Energy consumed by electric bulb of 40 w = 76800 watt-Hour
Energy consumed by electric bulb of 40 w = 76. 8 kilo watt-Hour

Energy consumed by 100 w bulb = Number of the bulbs ⨯ power of each bulb ⨯ Time

Energy consumed by 100 w bulb = 1 ⨯ 100 w ⨯ 2 hrs ⨯20

Energy consumed by 100 w bulb = 4000 watt - Hour
Energy consumed by 100 w bulb = 4 kilo watt-Hour
Total energy consumed = Energy consumed by electric bulb of 100 w + Energy consumed by 16 bulbs each of 40 w

Total energy consumed = 76.8 kilo watt-Hour + 4 kilowatt – Hour
Total energy consumed = 80.4 kilo watt-Hour
