  • Cotton grows best in a warm climate with lots of sunlight and moderate rainfall.
  • Black soils are ideal for growing cotton found in peninsular India.
  • It is also known as black cotton soil.
  • Since black soil contains a high percentage of clay, it has a great water holding capacity, making it ideal for cotton cultivation.
  • Alluvial soil is also good for cotton growth found in northern India.
