Sulphur (S) reacts with Oxygen (O₂) to give Sulphur dioxide (SO₂) which is acidic oxide.

$\underset{\mathrm{Sulphur}}{\mathrm{S}\left(\mathrm{s}\right)}+\underset{\mathrm{Oxygen}}{{\mathrm{O}}_2\left(\mathrm{g}\right)}\to \underset{\mathrm{Sulphur}\mathrm{dioxide}}{{\mathrm{SO}}_2\left(\mathrm{g}\right)}$

Since the number of atoms of Sulphur and Oxygen elements on reactant and product side are equal thus, the above chemical equation is said to be balanced.
