2.2 cu dm(decimeter cube) of brass is to be drawn into a cylindrical wire of diameter 0.50 cm. Find the length of the wire. [1 MARK]
Concept: 1 Mark
Volume of brass
=2.2 dm3=(2.2×10×10×10) cm3=2200 cm3 (1dm=10cm)
Let the required length of wire be x cm.
Then, its volume
=(πr2x) cm3=2200 cm3
227×0.25×0.25×x=2200
x=11200cm=112m.
(100 cm= 1 m)
Hence, the length of wire is 112m.
