We have
$2 \frac{5}{8} + \frac{7}{16} = 3 \frac{x}{16}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{21}{8} + \frac{7}{16} = \frac{48 + x}{16}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{42 + 7}{16} = \frac{48 + x}{16} [L . C . M o f 8 & 16 = 16]$

$\Rightarrow 49 = 48 + x [c a n c l e 16 b o t h s i d e s]$

$\Rightarrow x = 49 - 48$

$∴ x = 1$
