  • The symbol is a kind of abbreviation and is derived from the name of the element. There are different ways in which the symbols are arrived at.
  • There are different ways in which the symbol is arrived at. If the names of two or more elements start with the same first letter, two letters are used to form the symbol, with the second letter written in small letters, for example, Beryllium (Be), Bromine (Br)
