Cost price of 1 kg wheat = C.P = Rs x (say)
Selling price of 1 kg wheat = S.P = Rs 15
Profit % = 20%
Profit = S.P − C.P
= Rs (15 − x)
Profit % = $\frac{Profit}{C . P} \times 100$
$\Rightarrow 20 = \frac{15 - x}{x} \times 100 \Rightarrow 20 x = (15 - x) \times 100 \Rightarrow 20 x = 1500 - 100 x \Rightarrow 20 x + 100 x = 1500 \Rightarrow 120 x = 1500 \Rightarrow x = \frac{1500}{120} \Rightarrow x = 12.5$
∴ Cost price of 1 kg wheat is Rs 12.50.
∴ Cost price of 5 kg wheat is Rs 12.50 × 5 = Rs 62.50.
