2(ii) How is water logging caused ?

Open in App
Solution

There are many reasons of water logging. Some of them are:

  • Inadequate drainage of overland run-off raises percolation rates, which serves to raise the water table.
  • The infiltration of river water into the soil.
  • Over and intensive irrigation also causes water logging.
  • Water seepage from earthen canals continuously adds a substantial amount of water to the subsurface reservoir.
