Find the value of $2 \sqrt{3} + \sqrt{3}$ .
It is an example of adding two irrational numbers.
On taking out $\sqrt{3}$ as the common factor
$\begin{array}{rcl} 2 \sqrt{3} + \sqrt{3} & = & (2 + 1) \sqrt{3} \\ = & 3 \sqrt{3} \end{array}$
$∴$ $2 \sqrt{3} + \sqrt{3}$ is equal to $3 \sqrt{3}$ .
