Question

20% of surface sites are occupied by N2 molecules. The density of surface site is 6.023×1014cm2 and total surface area is 1000 cm2. Solution

The correct option is A 2
Total number of moles of nitrogen n=PVRT=0.001×2.46×1030.08206×300=9.99×108 moles

Total number of nitrogen molecules =6.023×1023×9.99×108=6.02×1016

Total number of sites present on the surface of the catalyst =6.023×1014×1000=6.023×1017

Total number of active sites =0.2×6.023×1017=1.2×1017

Number of active sites occupied by each nitrogen molecule =1.2×10176.02×1016=2
