202(d) Give two examples of strong bases.

Open in App
Solution

  • The bases that dissociate completely into their constituent ions in an aqueous solution are called strong bases.
  • They undergo 100% dissociation in an aqueous solution.
  • The examples of strong bases are:

(i) Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is a strong base as it dissociates completely and generates sodium (Na+) and hydroxide (OH-) ions when dissolved in water.

(ii) Potassium hydroxide (KOH) is a strong base as it dissociates completely and generates potassium (K+) and hydroxide (OH-) ions when dissolved in water.
