Solution

The process of transfer of clean liquid from one vessel to another vessel without disturbing the sedimented particles is known as decantation.

Example: Water is separated from rice and pulses after washing them through decantation.

  • The dust particles and contaminants in the rice and pulses combine with the water and float on top of it when we do this. The water is then thrown out of the vessel by tilting it. Decantation is the process of removing pollutants from water.
  • After allowing the two liquids to sit in a vessel for a while, they gradually separate, and the liquid that rises to the top can be decanted away.
