24 pipes of identical size can fill a tank in 112 mins. Among these, if 10 pipes are closed, then how much time will it take to fill the tank?

Given, 24 pipes can fill a tank in 112 mins.

We know that, lesser the number of pipes, more will be the time taken to fill the tank.

So, number of pipes(x)1Time(y)
x1x2 = y2y1

Given,
x1 = 24 pipes
y1 = 112 mins
x2 = 24 10 = 14 pipes
and y2 = time taken by 14 pipes

2414=y2112
24 × 112 = 14 × y2
y2 = 24 × 11214 = 192 mins

So, it will take 192 minutes to fill the tank with 10 pipes closed.
