Given:-
$x + 60 %$ of x $= 240$
$\Rightarrow x + \frac{60 x}{100} = 240$
$\Rightarrow x [\frac{160}{100}] = 240$
$\Rightarrow x = \frac{3 \times 100}{2} = 150$
$∴$ Total no. of women that boarded the train previous day $= 150$ .
