25.The longest side of a triangle is 3 times the shortest side and the third side is 2 cmshorter than the longest side. If the perimeter of the triangle is at least 61 cm, findthe minimum length of the shortest side.

Let x be the shortest side of the triangle. Then, length of longest side is 3x. And length of the third side is ( 3x2 ).

The formula used to calculate perimeter of triangle is,

Perimeter=Sumofthreesides =x+3x+( 3x2 ) =7x2

It is given that the perimeter of the triangle is at least 61cm, therefore the equation becomes,

7x261 7x63 x9

Thus, the minimum length of shortest side is 9cm.
