Mass of aluminium =27 g.
Mass of hydride =30 g.
Hence, hydrogen combined =3 g.
3 g hydrogen combines with 27 g of Al.
1 g hydrogen combines with 9 g of Al.
Equivalent weight if aluminium =9 g (by the definition of equivalent weight which states that it is equal to the mass combining with 1 g atoms of hydrogen).
