Question

27g Al reacts completely with how many grams Oxygen.

Open in App
Solution

A balanced chemical equation showing the reaction of aluminum and oxygen is as follows
4Al + 3O2 → 2Al2O3
The molar mass of aluminum is 27g, while that of oxygen gas is 32g. As per the above equation, 96g of oxygen is required to react completely with 108g of aluminum. Thus
108g of aluminum → 96g of oxygen
1g of aluminum → (96 / 108) of oxygen
so 27g of aluminium → (96 X 27) / 108 of oxygen = 24g of oxygen
