Question

28. Why do sea divers carry oxygen cylinders with them?

Open in App
Solution

  • Oxygen is present in a dissolved state in water not in the free state. So, it cannot be used for breathing by divers (humans) because humans do not have gills through which they can extract oxygen and use it for breathing.
  • The level of oxygen decreases as we go down deep in water.
  • Hence, sea divers carry oxygen cylinders with them.
