29. A group of students went for an excursion to Shimla in the month of November. A science teacher also accompanied them. There the temperature fell to -10⁰C. They took some ice cubes subjected them to heating while keeping a thermometer in the container. The students monitoring the reading of thermometer till the entire ice melted into water. All of them went to their science teacher and showed him their observations. He asked them to discuss among themselves and give a proper justification for the observations on the readings at the various stages.

Observation's justification:-
Temperature recorded before heating ice cubes is -10⁰C
Then they are heated till melting.
The heat energy supplied is completely utilized by ice cubes to convert them into water.
The students observe a gradual decrease of ice cubes when the temperature rises.
As the whole ice cube has been converted into water therefore they observe the temperature which is 0⁰C.
Hence, students observed the melting point of ice when it is converted into water is 0⁰C.
