Solution

  • The process of applying a coating of tin (Sn) on Iron (Fe) is called tinning. This process is used to prevent rusting of iron.
  • Tin-coated containers are used to preserve edible food materials like oil, meat, vegetables, etc. because tin being a less reactive metal does not react with the components of the food material.
  • Galvanization is the process of applying a coating of Zinc (Zn) on iron. This method is also used to prevent rusting.
  • Since Zinc is a more reactive metal so it reacts with the acids which are present in food items and makes food inedible.
