In the above equation, Na is being oxidised because it looses electron to form Na+
but we can think of the above situation as:
Reduction, because Hydrogen is added to Na (addition of H is reduction)

-now oxidation generally is lose of electrons and
Reduction is addition of electrons.
-reduction as addition of hydrogen is old system.
