Open in App
Solution

  • Sulphuric acid reacts with sodium chloride to form sodium sulphate and hydrochloric acid.

2NaCl(s)+H2SO4(aq)Na2SO4(s)+2HCl(aq)

  • Sodium bisulfite or sodium hydrogen sulfate is prepared by the reaction of sodium chloride and sulfuric acid due to substitution of only one acidic proton of the diprotic sulfuric acid. It behaves as acid.

NaCl(s)+H2SO4(aq)NaHSO4(s)+HCl(aq)

Hence, both reactions are correct
