$Dividend = 2 x^{4} + 3 x^{2} + 5 Index form = 2 x^{4} + 0 x^{3} + 3 x^{2} + 0 x + 5 Coefficient form = (2, 0, 3, 0, 5) Comparing the divisor x + 2 with x - a, we get a = - 2$

$Now, the quotient in coefficient form is (2, - 4, 11, - 22) . ∴ Quotient = 2 x^{3} - 4 x^{2} + 11 x - 22 in the variable x Remainder = 49 ∴ 2 x^{4} + 3 x^{2} + 5 = (x + 2) (2 x^{3} - 4 x^{2} + 11 x - 22) + 49$
