Solution

In nature, all substances are not found in their purest form. The majority of the chemicals are found in mixes. Various separation procedures can be used to separate beneficial components of mixtures.

  • Filtration is used to separate soil and water in this procedure. The liquid is carefully poured into a funnel lined with filter paper. The solid component, in this case, soil, is left on the filter paper as a residue, while the liquid component, in this case, water, passes down the funnel into a beaker below as the filtrate. To dry out, the moist filter paper is gently put on a watch glass. After that, gently scrape the solid soil off the paper.
