Part I - Definition

Magnesium is a silvery - white metal which gets rapidly covered with white powdered mass as it is frequently oxidized to magnesium oxide when exposed to air.

Part II - Uses

• It usually burns with a dazzling white brilliant flame , hence it is used in preparation of crackers.
• It is employed in making alloys such as magnalium (aluminium + magnesium) which is light weight and used to construct frames of airplanes.
