We have
$3 \times \frac{5}{8} = 1 \frac{x}{8}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{15}{8} = \frac{8 + x}{8}$

$\Rightarrow 15 = 8 + x [c a n c l e 8 b o t h s i d e s]$

$\Rightarrow x = 15 - 8$
$∴ x = 7$
Hence, the value of $x = 7$
