Question

3. Why do some objects float on surface of water?

Open in App
Solution

Some objects float on the surface of the water because:

  1. If the density of an object is more than the density of water, it will sink.
  2. If the density of an object is lower than that of water, it will float.
  3. Buoyant force which acts upward on the objects also decides whether the object will float or sink.
  4. If the weight of the object is more than this force then the object will sink and vice versa.
