Solution
The correct option is A87.5% Mg and 12.5% MgO Total mass of Mg + MgO=320mg
As per the reaction,
MgO + 2HCl→MgCl2+ H2O
Here, Atomic weight of MgO is 40gm and Atomic weight of HCl is 73gm.
20ml of 0.1M HCl contains 0.073gm of HCl
Therefore, 73gm of HCl combines with 40gm of MgO
0.073gm of HCl will combine with =40×0.07373=0.04g=40mg
