Question 18

35×107 is not same as

(b) (35)×7+(35)×100
(c) 35×7+100

Solution

35×107=35×(100+7)=(35)×100+(35)×7 [using distributive property, i.e.a×(b+c)=a×b+a×c]
=(35)×7+(35)×100 [as addition is commutative, i.e. a + b = b + a]
Also, 35×107=(305)×107 [(305)=(35)]
Hence, 35×107 is not same as 35×7+100.
