Question

\(5\) bottles of paint are required to make one painting. If one bottle of paint costs \(\$8\), which of the following equations will calculate the total cost of paint bottles required for \(15\) paintings?

Open in App
Solution

Number of paint bottles required for one painting = \(5\)

Cost of one bottle of paint = \(\$8\)

Cost of \(5\) bottles =
cost of one bottle of paint \(\times \) number of bottles
\(= \$8 \times 5\)

Hence, cost of creating one painting \(= \$ 8 \times 5=\$40\)
Number of paintings = \(15\)

Cost of creating \(15\) paintings = cost of creating one painting \(\times\) number of paintings
\(= \$40 \times 15=\$ 8 \times 5 \times 15\)
