Solution

Plastids are double-membrane organelles. In plastids food is manufactured and stored. These pigments that are used in photosynthesis.

There are different types of Plastids. They are as follows:

  1. Leucoplasts: Leucoplasts are the organelles which are colorless. Leucoplasts are usually found in the non-photosynthetic parts of the plant like roots. They are used for storage of starches, lipids, and proteins.
  2. Chromoplasts: Chromoplasts are known as colorful plastids. It is usually found in flowering plants and fruits. Chloroplasts convert into chromoplasts. Chromoplasts have carotenoid pigments which is responsible for different colors in leaves and fruits.
  3. Chloroplasts: Chloroplasts are biconvex, double membraned organelle found within the mesophyll of the plant cell. They are the site for photosynthesis.
