Solution

Dear student,

(a) When a ball is dropped from a height, its speed continuously increases because the ball is moving downwards and a force of gravity is acting on the ball in the downward direction. As acceleration due to gravity increases on coming downwards.

(b) When we stop pedaling a bicycle its speed slow down because of the air resistance and force of friction between the tire of bicycle and surface of the road. As we stop bicycle retardation force is created and stops the bicycle.
