Let present age of Sumit $=x$

Let present age of Sumit’s sister $=y$

$5$ years ago, age of Sumit $=x-5$

$5$ years ago, age of Sumit’s sister $=y-5$

Given, $(x-5)=3(y-5)-----\left(1\right)$

And $x=2y------\left(2\right)$

Put $\left(2\right)$ in $\left(1\right)$

$2y-5=3y-15$

$y=15-5=10$

$x=2y=20$

$\therefore$ Sumit’s present age is $20$ years.
