Solution

Step 1. Given information

  • 5000 molecules are present in 1volume of hydrogen gas

Step 2. STP

  • STP indicates standard temperature and pressure.
  • Temperature=0°C
  • Pressure =1atm
  • The volume of an ideal gas at STP is 22.4L.

Step 3. Avogadro's Law

It states that the equal volume of any gas under the same pressure and temperature contains the same number of molecules.

Step 4. Calculation of volume of nitrogen gas

5000 molecules are present in 1volume of hydrogen gas.

So, 5000 molecules are present in 1volume of nitrogen gas (Avogadro's Law)

Therefore, 2.5×108 molecules of nitrogen are present in 1V5000molecules×2.5×108molecules=5×104V

Hence, the volume of nitrogen gas is 5×104V.
