Number of students in Group A = 554
Number of students in Group B = 647
Total number of students in both the groups = 554 + 647 = 1,201

Number of ribbons with each student = 9

∴ Total number of ribbons required for 1,201 students = 1,201 × 9

Let us split 1,201 in the respective place values as: 1201 = 1000 + 200 + 1


Now, we multiply each value by 9.
