Question

5x-3y=1

2x+5y-19=0

Open in App
Solution

The given system of equation is:

5x - 3y - 1 = 0 ……(i)

2x + 5y - 19 = 0 ……(ii)

On multiplying (i) by 2 and (ii) by 5, we get:

10x - 6y = 2 ……(iii)

10x + 25y = 95 …….(iv)

On substacting (iii) from (iv) we get:

31y = (95 - 2) = 93

⇒y= 3

On substituting the value of y=3 in (i), we get:

5x – 9 – 1 = 0

⇒5x = (9+1) = 10

⇒x = 2

Hence, the solution is x = 2 and y = 3
