For maximum number of trips of the vessel, each trip should consist of minimum number of passengers, given that number of males and number of females in each trip remains constant.

We need to find the greatest common divisor of 600 and 492.

Using prime factorization,
600=6×100=2×3×2×2×5×5
=23×3×52

492=2×2×3×41
=22×3×41

The common factors are 2,3,4,6 & 12.
Hence, Greatest common factor or GCD is 12.

The maximum number of trips required is 12.
