Question

600ml of a mixture of O3 and O2 weighs 1g at NTP. Calculate the volume of ozone in the mixture. 105ml of pure water (4C) is saturated with NH3 gas, producing a solution of density 0.9g/ml.

Solution

Let us consider the volume of O2=x ml
At STP, weight of x ml O2=32×x22400gm
Weight of (600x) ml of O3=48×(600x)22400gm
32x22400+48×(600x)22400=1
32x+2880048x=22400
x=400 mL
Hence the volume of O3=600400=200 ml
