Properties of mercury:

• Mercury is a good conductor of heat and electricity.
• The melting point of mercury is $-39°\mathrm{C}$. If the temperature is above melting point then mercury remains liquid and if it is below melting point then mercury remains solid.
• The boiling point of mercury is $357°\mathrm{C}$.
• Mercury has the unique property of dissolving almost all metals except iron. For example - It forms an amalgam with gold.
