7. Write fractions for the shaded parts. Are these equivalent fractions ?

Equivalent Fractions: The fractions when divided by their HCF equals to each other is known as Equivalent Fractions.

H.C.F of 2 and 10 = 2

Thus, $\frac{2}{10}=\frac{2÷2}{10÷2}=\frac{1}{5}$

Similarly $\frac{5}{25}=\frac{5÷5}{25÷5}=\frac{1}{5}$

OR

The fractions whose cross multiplication is equal to each other are known as equivalent fractions.

For eg: $$\begin{gathered} \frac{2}{10}=\frac{5}{25} \\ 2\times 25=50 \\ 10\times 5=50 \end{gathered}$$

(a)Fraction of shaded region in each of the figures = $\frac{1}{3}$. Thus , they are equivalent .

(b)Fraction of shaded region in Ist figure = $\frac{2}{4}=\frac{1}{2}$

No part of triangle is shaded in second figure . Thus , we can say that it is not equivalent fraction .
