Aligning both the numbers according to Place value (starting from the right) :

For subtraction, we need to place the like terms of the digits together i.e. digits at ones place will be placed together and digits at tens place to be placed together.


For ones place, we can't subtract 8 ones from 3 ones, as 8 > 3. Thus, we borrow 1 tens from the 7.

1 tens = 10 ones.
Now, at the ones place, we first add 10+3=13 ones. Subtracting 8 from 13 , we get 5.

Now, we are left with 6 at tens place. Subtracting 3 tens from 6 tens, we get 3 tens.

Thus, the answer is 35.
