  • A fuse is a substance which acts as a protective device when the current crosses the threshold value and leads to disconnection of the device.
  • Fuse wire is made of a substance having a low melting point so that on getting high voltage it blows off.
  • Lead - tin alloy has a low melting point hence it blows off the fuse when used as wires on getting high voltage transmission
