Then, quantity of wine left in cask after $4$ operations $=\left[x{(1-\frac{8}{x})}^4\right]$ litres.
$\therefore \left(\frac{x{(1-\left(8/x\right))}^4}{x}\right)=\frac{16}{81}$
$\Rightarrow {(1-\frac{8}{x})}^4={\left(\frac{2}{3}\right)}^4$
$\Rightarrow \left(\frac{x-8}{x}\right)=\frac{2}{3}$
$\Rightarrow 3x-24=2x$
